Fabio Cannavaro retirment with Italy
Italy Defender and captained Italy to World Cup glory in Germany four years ago Fabio Cannavaro has hinted that he will be retiring from international football after this summer's World Cup finals.
Former FIFA World Player of the Year, Cannavaro, will turn 37 in September.
Fabio Cannavaro , who has been criticised for recent performances, has indicated he will not be able to continue with Italy after the showpiece event in South Africa.
A veteran of a record 132 caps, Cannavaro said: "They already say I'm too old, so I can only imagine what they would say in August.
Italy will face Paraguay, New Zealand and Slovakia in Group F in South Africa.
It will be another chance for Cannavaro to shine in an international tournament after he missed Euro 2008 after being injured in training following a tackle by fellow defender Giorgio Chiellini.
"We're hoping to bring home the cup again, this time to keep it,'' said Fabio Cannavaro, who has been involved alongside 28 Serie A players in a three-day training camp held by Italy coach Marcello Lippi in Rome.
