The Reds Liverpool through Europe League to book their place in the last-16 after win against Unirea Urziceni 3-1.

Shaky defending from set-pieces in the first half saw them fall behind to Bruno Fernandes' header in the 19th minute and for a while they looked rattled. However, goals from Javier Mascherano from long range and Ryan Babel from close in turned things around before the interval and Steven Gerrard's 33rd European goal wrapped things up after the break.

Brede Hangeland's goal sent Fulham through with a 1-1 result on a memorable night for Roy Hodgson's men. Hangeland scored against the run of play to dump out Shakhtar Donetsk, the 2009 UEFA Cup winners.
Wolfsburg carried their improved form into Europe as three first-half goals dumped Villarreal out 4-1. They were two up inside 14 minutes thanks to Edin Dzeko's strike and an own goal from Angel Lopez. Joan Capdevila pulled one back but Christian Gentner struck a third and Grafite made sure in the 64th minute.
A Claudio Pizarro hat-trick sent Werder Bremen through after beating FC Twente 4-1. A blistering start had Bremen three up inside half an hour thanks to goals from Pizarro (two) and Naldo, but Luuk de Jong pulled one back to give the visitors - who held a 1-0 lead from the first leg - hope of an unlikely comeback. Pizarro's third a minute later then finished them off.
Substitute Diego Forlan struck a last-gasp winner as Atletico Madrid stunned Turkish giants Galatasaray 2-1 at the Ali Sami Yen stadium.

Forlan had started the game on the bench but he was called into action at the end of the first half when Sergio Aguero was forced off with a facial injury, and the Uruguayan ended up being his side's hero. He struck in the 90th minute just as the tie looked set to go to extra time with the two sides locked at 1-1 - the same scoreline from the first leg.
Lille went through with a 1-0 win as Adil Rami's header proved the difference against Fenerbahce. The Turkish giants had looked set to progress once Emre's strike had given them the advantage on away goals, but the Ligue 1 side applied plenty of pressure and were finally rewarded with five minutes to go.
Marseille cruised through after recording a convincing 6-2 aggregate victory over FC Copenhagen. The French outfit had done most of the hard work in the first leg, where three late goals earned them a 3-1 win in Denmark, and they completed the job with an identical scoreline to set up a showdown with Benfica in the next round.
Mbark Boussoufa enjoyed a starring role as Anderlecht sealed a comfortable 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, securing a 5-1 triumph on aggregate. La Liga outfit Athletic were left kicking themselves after only drawing 1-1 in the first leg at home and they were made to pay as the Belgians moved through to face Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the next round.
Pablo Hernandez struck twice in extra-time as Valencia bounced back from a first-leg deficit against Club Brugge to win the tie 3-0. Juan Manuel Mata gave Valencia the perfect start pwhen his goal in the opening 20 seconds cancelled out Brugge's advantage from the first meeting, but Los Che had to wait until the additional period to settle what was a thrilling contest at the Mestalla.
Standard Liege sealed their place as a drab goalless draw preserved their 3-2 first leg advantage over Salzburg. The Austrian side threatened only sporadically and were largely restricted to long-range shots and set-pieces.
Rubin Kazan were given no cause for alarm in a second-leg 0-0 stroll to earn a victory over Hapoel Tel-Aviv and a last-16 clash with Wolfsburg. Having all but sealed their passage in the first leg, during which Aleksandr Bukharov scored twice and Sergei Semak also found the target, Rubin were content to sit back in Tel-Aviv.

Jadson pulled one back for the dominant hosts but, with goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer pulling off a series of superb saves, the Londoners made it through despite a stoppage-time red card for skipper Danny Murphy.
Panathinaikos struck three times in the space of five minutes to stun Roma 3-2. Needing to overturn a 3-2 deficit from the first leg in Athens, the Italians got off to a great start at the Stadio Olimpico.
John Arne Riise broke the deadlock in the 11th minute before disaster struck for the hosts. Djibril Cisse equalised from the penalty spot in the 40th minute after Daniele De Rossi had brought down Sotiris Ninis inside the area.
Three minutes later, Ninis put the Greeks ahead before providing the assist for Cisse to score his second of the evening on the stroke of half-time. De Rossi reduced the deficit in the 67th minute but the damage had already been done.
Juventus stood firm as Italy's only representatives by holding Ajax to a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico to complete a 2-1 aggregate victory. The home side came the closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half when Mohamed Sissoko hit the post with a header, but they did not need a goal to progress to the last 16.
David Moyes saw his Everton side humbled in Lisbon for the second time this season and crash out as they were beaten 3-0 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate by Sporting.
Holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg and on the back of a superb victory against Manchester United, the Toffees were widely expected to complete the job in Portugal. However, Sporting shrugged off their indifferent form to progress thanks to second half goals from Miguel Veloso, Pedro Mendes and substitute Matias Fernandez.
Hamburg came from behind on away goals following a pulsating 3-2 contest at PSV Eindhoven. PSV swiftly brought the last-32 contest level with a second-minute strike from Ola Toivonen and Balazs Dzsudzsak netted a long-range free-kick to put the hosts in front on aggregate before half-time.
But Hamburg netted a valuable away goal in the first minute after the restart when Mladen Petric's deft chip went in and the Bundesliga side then levelled on the night from a Piotr Trochowski penalty after 78 minutes to go 3-1 up on aggregate. Danny Koevermans headed in after 89 minutes but Hamburg held on to set up a last-16 clash with Anderlecht.
